Cheryl Newman is an independent photography consultant and curator living in London. For more than fifteen years she was the Photography Director of the Telegraph Magazine where she raised the profile of the magazine commissioning intelligent and inventive photography worldwide. The magazine was the recipient of several photography awards under her direction.
She has served as a jury member for numerous photographic awards worldwide. She is on the Faculty of the Bilder Nordic School in Oslo and a regular speaker on the photo circuit in the UK, US and Europe. She teaches workshops globally on fashion, editorial and documentary photography. She recently curated, ‘Time to See’, a long-term exhibition and book project on Blindness within the Commonwealth for the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Trust and is commissioning and curating, ‘We Feed the World’, an exhibition and book project documenting small framers globally which will exhibit in 2019.
She is the 2019 Curatorial Director of PondyPHOTO Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, India. She is a nominator for the Deutsche Borse Photography prize. She writes, lectures and consults on photography.
